Bushwick. Ridgewood. East Williamsburg. The restlessly walkable interior of northern brooklyn and southern queens has always needed a website. Longtimers will remember the territory of the long-dead Bushwick News, whose website now links to a list of maintenance tips for coffee machines in Australia.
At one point, New York magazine hosted a blog called Bedford + Bowery which employed journalism students to scale the culturally connected spaces along the L and M train lines. Shoutout to all the hyperlocal sites around the city that are still paving the way — the good work of the Red Hook Star-Revue, EV Grieve, West Side Rag, Greenpointers etc etc. Here’s hoping we have something to say too, and maybe inspire some other sites around the city too.
grime square is our hyperlocal news and culture site, telling the stories that live down our block, the world that is opening and closing around our corner. Beyonce was here. So was Charli. So are we. This is life along the L. We’ll have stories about how to stretch $60 on a date night, conversations with the people and artists happening in the neighborhood, and all the ways this part of Brooklyn is becoming Brooklyn. Have any ideas? Hit us up at: grimesquare@gmail.com
