Next to a Western Beef, Ridgewood’s hottest fog room has reopened. Past the graveyard and across the train tracks, Mansions (46-63 Metropolitan Ave) is as a tenement to partygoers that actually want to feel like they’re at a party.
“Mansions is a living room for dancing,” says Basement regular DJ Lauren Flax, spinning on a recent night at Mansions, which has itself become a common spot for post-Basement afters. Before it was Mansions, it was the first location of Bunker, an underground Vietnamese restaurant once profiled on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. (It later moved to Bushwick before it closed in 2023.)
As for the club, it also closed back in January, but unlike others, it actually returned. Despite rumors of a fire, circulated by a single comment on Reddit, the club only shuttered to replace the carpet, which remains pleasant on the knees. Go drink wine, be a feral hog. Cultural scavenging is really important.
Opening weekend included DJs Jubilee and SPF 50. Don’t take your phone out. Meet some new people and dance. The right way to go clubbing is to take some friends. Maybe make some, too. Get there at opening (free at door before 10pm).
